“Mommy, I like preschool” – my 3 year old son randomly told me as we were trying to get out the door this morning. This is really all I need to hear in confirming that we are at the right place for our family. Both of my boys have thoroughly enjoyed their experience at First Discoveries. As a parent, the most important factor for me in a preschool are the teachers. My kids LOVE their teachers and the teachers LOVE the kids.

As an educator, I appreciate the balanced approach in the structure/pedagogy of the school. For me, they offer the perfect balance of play-based learning with a lot of choice and time for the kids to develop social skills with their peers, some Montessori methods, bilingual exposure, bible story learning, with some academics through pre-K prep. Again, most importantly though, my kids are happy – they are learning and growing and making friends….and that is all I want as a positive start to their school experience!

My 2 children, son and daughter, "graduated" at FDCC in different years (2011-2013 and 2014-2016) and I have tons of positive experiences to carry with us and I thank all the teachers, helpers, parents and community for the great experience. I share with you some of the highlights: -Montessori program taught with love and consistency; -Exposure to due language Spanish and English at early age; -Reading buddy programs; (partner with local school); -Music program; (Spanish and English) -LOVING teachers, especially teacher Cristina who is there for ages and teacher Maria who prepares the lunch daily; teacher Sylvia was awesome too. -Lunch prepared on site and served fresh to the children; -Children sit down at the table with teachers and other students learning table manners and health eating habits; - Christian teaching values insert in the philosophy, in the process of teaching and the administration of the school. This preschool is a gem which needs to be found. I still remember when I was first time mom and looking for a preschool. I was bombarded with so many options and I was lost to find an excellent Christian preschool to my children. I am so glad we found FDCP and was near to home. We will have precious memories of the early school year experience for life

I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU for making a positive difference in our lives. Your school and your mission have truly been a blessing to our family. I can see the progress that my children have been making since the start of school and I am impressed. I have told many friends w/little ones how happy we are at First Discoveries. Some of my favorite things: the great artwork that comes home (I especially love the "faith fish"), the low ratio of children to staff, the nutritious meals, the Spanish we are learning, the varied and well-planned activities, the pictures (I LOVE the dvd -- thank you!), and of course, most importantly, all the love and patience you give my children.

Overall, my husband and I are very delighted and satisfied with how our son is cared for and taught by First Discoveries. This is the first time our son is cared for by another group of people outside of his mother and father. We deeply appreciate the small ratio, intimate personal, and affectionate environment in which our Son learns. I believe that it is this kind of environment which allows my son to learn best and is the reason he is so excited to attend First Discoveries. He returns home each day very happy, adjusted, and tired. He always wants to attend ESCUELA. We are so relieved to feel as though we pass along our son to another family in our absence. Our son demonstrates new skills he learns from school such as recognizing his name, singing the days of the week in Spanish, recognizing the alphabet, and cherishing the beautiful plant he made at school that has now blossomed greatly. First Discoveries has certainly met our expectations, if not exceeded them! Thank you!

My daughter went to first discoveries for 2 1/2 years. She loved it and so did we. It was great prep for her transfer to a Spanish immersion school. What I love is the consistency of the teachers. There was no turnover, so you know the teachers are happy and they are treated well. The teachers loved my daughter and she is always asking to go back and visit her teachers. I also like the community feel it has there. I have met and befriended many of the parents who also live in willow glen. I will be sure to send my son there when he is old enough.

My son has been attending First Discoveries for almost eight months now, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The teachers are all attentive and kind, and take the time to teach the children how to be play well together and understand each other's feelings. The outdoor space is wonderful with plenty of grass to run around in, and the indoor classrooms are filled with fun play activities and learning material. My son comes home every day with art projects, talking about his friends, singing songs he has learned, and tells us when the teachers have talked to him about life lessons, such as to be nice and share with others. My only complaint would be that there are quite a few weeks that the school is closed, but there is almost always child-care available during those times. Otherwise, I think the directors and teachers all care about the children and their families, and that shows in how this school is run.

After many tours in different schools when I was looking for my daughters Preschool I choose First discoveries Christian, the kids were happy, the teachers really care about the kids and my daughter likes right away! Was not easy to leave her for the first week but they really have what it takes to take care of a kid!! They also are strict in certain ways which I really like the balance in what is acceptable, manageable.Thank you so much for everything and everyone, my daughter is so ready and happy to start kindergarten now!

I love your testimony and the story of how the Lord has been faithful. What’s also interesting is how the Lord was at work in the lives of the parents who now bring their kids to the school. After I became a mom and started to think about preschool, I ideally wanted to find a Christian preschool that had a Spanish immersion program. And you were starting just the place. I had driven by the school many times and who knew this would end up being our son's school? It’s also interesting that the very week when I knew we were going to have to find a preschool for our son (because of a work situation), First Discoveries was holding an open house. I attended the open house that Saturday and something about your school felt right from the start. I visited other schools and prayed about our decision and it was as if the Lord was using our son to literally tell me, this is the answer to your prayers…he kept on talking about the “escuelita!” “escuelita!” And now here we are.

My son has been at First Discoveries for one year and he absolutely loves it there. He asks to go to school every morning. He comes home singing songs in English and Spanish. The school has a well balanced program; the children learn a lot but also get to play and have fun. I like it that the children are not limited to one room or one teacher for the whole day but can move through several playrooms with at least four teachers in attendance. The outdoor area is really spacious. It has a huge lawn, a shaded sand pit, a playground, and a little garden for the children to grow flowers and vegetables. Best of all, the teachers are wonderful; they are very loving and caring and they make learning fun. My son is happy here and will be attending First Discoveries for at least another year before leaving for kindergarten.

My son has attended for 2yrs and we REALLY like this school and we're going to miss taking my almost kindergartner there. The environment is very nurturing, peaceful and supporting and they've been very accommodating with our family as far as scheduling and helping us deal with some of my son's sensory issues. I know my son is loved and cared for there. I love the huge green grass for my son to run, the big covered sand pit and how safe and natural the play area is for my wandering boy. Another big plus is that they provide wholesome and nutritious breakfast, lunch, snacks. I can see some room for improvement on the art projects for the children.

My four year old son has been going to First Discoveries for a little over a year now and I am confident that I couldn't have made a better decision for my son! What I love: - The teachers and the staff - The school is fully staffed with tenured and experienced teachers; low teacher:child ratios and no turnover issues. They are all very loving, patient and accommodating. -The school offers an intimate, nurturing and calm environment (so different from some of the other preschools I visited that felt crowded and hectic from the moment I walked in.) -There's a good healthy balance between play and learning; Also a variety of different learning tools can be found throughout the school. -The facility is super clean and all of the toys, play structures, learning aids, etc are in tip top condition. -In addition to lunch and two snacks, the school offers breakfast. -There is an emphasis placed on embracing nature and encouraging curiosity among the children about the world around them. -It's a Christian school that teaches Christian principals through play, art, reading, music, classroom lessons and more importantly leading by example. -The school is extremely well run and organized. I'm a stickler for the details and for order. The owner, Terry leaves no stone unturned as it relates to the school operations and the care the children receive. -Diversity! There are children/families of many different backgrounds represented at this school -There's a close knit parent community - We do things together with the children outside of school too! What I wish was different: I wish they would open up earlier. They open up at 7:30 am. This makes my commute to work a little more difficult, but it's totally worth it! Check out First Discoveries...I am certain that you and your child/children will fall in love with this wonderful school too!

We have had a wonderful experience at First Discoveries. I wanted to tell you that I picked up my son early last Friday and I got there just as everyone had sat down to lunch. It was just wonderful to see how the teachers were sitting with the kids and everyone was SO well behaved and quiet and polite. I have a daughter who has attended for 2 years now and we will be sending my son next year. The teachers at FDCP are kind and gentle while teaching the kids, especially Teacher Rose. My daughter has learned to be more patient, how to ask for what she needs, how to play with others peacefully, when to have fun and when to focus. Just in the last few weeks she is beginning to speak a lot of Spanish words at home on her own.

Both my kids were here and I got to know the staff pretty well over the years! We all loved it and loved them. Both my daughters have attended this charming preschool. The school focuses on hands-on and interactive learning with Christian centered teaching. The teachers are attentive and caring and most instruction and songs are taught in English as well as Spanish. My older daughter entered kindergarten this year and pretty much already knows what she will be expected to learn in her Kindergarten curriculum.

My daughter has attended this school for almost a year now. We're happy here. I really like their outdoor play space with the weeping willow tree, the little butterfly garden, the large shaded sandbox, the cool wooden climbing structure and the large grassy area. Inside, the rooms are lovely and friendly, there quite a few activities kids can choose from. The teachers are kind and attentive. We're a fan of this school.
